Ok, I'll see when I can get NOLF reinstalled again. BTW, NOLF2 was also a good game, but I think the first was better. They weren't as severe as the first game, but ground textures would appear and disappear as you panned the view or turned on a light.

Ironically, when I played NOLF2, which is a newer game than NOLF, I had to revert to an even eariler driver to fix all the graphical glitches. I had the exact same problem with Aliens vs. I had to downgrade a few version numbers to get the game to render properly. The first time I loaded up the game, all the textures were used in the wrong places and all the NPCs were untextured white statues.

NOLF is a great game! Make sure you take your time going through the levels as half the charm of the game is eavesdropping on the enemy NPCs as they discuss things like evil job benefits, their favorite TV shows, etc.īack when I originally played the game I ran into problems with the Nvidia drivers. I'm thinking of installing a few more "old" games that I have but have never really played. The PCI bus (33mhz) could also be tweaked/overclocked a little as far up as in the 40mhz region before things become unstable, just to squeeze out another percent of speed out of it. I would also be curious as to how a graphics PCI card would work in that, where the cpu/memory/system is not the bottleneck anymore. If those USB PCI cards got lower than $30, then yes that would still also be one compromisable solution. Here's a photo of my motherboard (well, not MY motherboard, mine is kind of in use at the moment ) Īh, so it is mostly PCI, back in the earlier days (when that motherboard was new) of express graphics cards, which weren't fat yet. What exactly is the expansion slot arrangement? I'm pretty sure I tried all that dll replacement stuff before a couple years prior. I'll see if I can get a wrapper to work another time (for the nVidia), as I said I'm pretty much done with NFS for now. Now I just put the DLL in the game directory. Eventually I tried deleting Glide2x.dll and suddenly the game worked. I tried to play the game Return to Castle Wolfenstein, but it kept crashing when I tried to start the game. Some wrappers come with an installer that puts it in the Windows\System32 directory so that theoretically any program can detect and use it, but I had problems with that. Typically all that's needed to use a Glide wrapper is to drop the Glide2x.dll file into the game's directory, overwriting any existing one. Some instructions said to do some things in the registry (98SE), and I think I did but still didn't work. It was a few years ago when I started trying a 3dfx wrapper.
